Merimbula Visitor Information

cobbled walkwayA favourite seaside destination of many Victorians, Merimbula is a laidback beach holiday area that remains a natural paradise untouched by high-rise buildings and multilane freeways.

Market Street has a relaxed vibe of live music, cafe’s, deli’s, boutique shops and al-fresco restaurants.  Wander through cobbled alleyways, relax at a waterfront cafe or dine at a local pub with stunning views over Merimbula Lake. Chefs here use local produce wherever possible from local farms and ocean. Taste fresh food straight from the grower.

Merimbula’s Beaches offer choice for families, experienced water junkies and those learning to surf.  Spencer Park and Mitchies Jetty offer families a great spot for young children to paddle, and Merimbula’s Bar Beach a place to snorkel.  But really keen surfers and boogie boarders will love Merimbula’s Main Beach and Short Point.

Nature abounds in Merimbula and the Sapphire Coast. The areas significance as part of Australia’s natural landscape has been recognised with the inclusion of the Sapphire Coast as a National Landscape.  Dubbed Australias Coastal Wilderness, the area has eco-systems so precious they are protected by a World Biosphere Reserve in Nadgee Nature Reserve (NSW) and Croajingolong National Park (VIC).  Explore some of these amazingly pristine National Parks via walking tracks, picnics on secluded sandy bays or by canoe or kayak.  And while your are there check out the abundant Australian Native wildlife some of which is indigenous to the area.

Forget Cairns, Noosa and Surfers… pack your bags and come to Merimbula for a holiday downunder!
